This chassis does not need it, but it would look really cool so if you can get it done free why not? I would also pick up an alloy rear diff case, the only ones that you can get are Chinese ones but they are better than stock. After that it should be good for a decent while between breaks or bearing failures. It's a light weight 1/5 and with the right upgrades it's not that bad.

RcDuff
Does anyone make upgraded drive pins?
Like better quality, different kind of metal, or cryogenic treated? Anything better than the stock crap! I want to get a bunch to have on hand.

We are working on a few things right now, the FLM parts are holding up to tons of bashing so far.

Here is the final verdict. The dbxl is known to have things loose Out of the box.. The go out and buy it list is pretty high but those that just bought it or got one this Christmas. Here are things you should look at after a kill switch. These are all pretty much a must for a serous basher or some one wanting to test the waters racing.

1. Alloy Clutch bell holder- stock melts with racing engines - not worth replacing.
2. FLM drive line -diff outputs and cvds- also fixed the pin problem 100% so far.
3. Aftermarket Chassis - take your pick there is 3 brands no less, all will be Better than stock and help the center drive train.
4. Alloy diff cases- especially rear- they are cheap though.
5. Mod the gas tank with bolts - it can fly out, literally fly out if you don't.
6. Change the oil and fluids , 10k-10k-7k works fine. 45-35 for the shocks to start. Alot of preload.
7. Put higher quality bolts in the shock towers and a washer over the outside of the shock bolt.
8. Cut the cage- you can get a whole pound off it and it still will be strong.
9. If you want to race, it's much better suited in 2wd with the same mods- it will be lighter by several pounds- get a locker in this case and just take out the front diff and cvds. This also takes the jumping from "meh" to better than its competition bajas. It turns much better than a Baja and seems a lot Easier to just gas and go straight.

After all that it will be a great basher or decent 2wd racer as the Bajas are heaver and don't jump as good.

Great info will be doing all of that and then some!
It may take some time to finish though in quitting my job, and moving from California to Oregon to live a more simple life and have more time with my family! Tired of being disrespected by my employer. All the $$ in the world can't buy my self respect or time with my family!

No problem , change is good, good luck on your journey. You are on the Oregon trail now! For those that understand that, please forgive me.

This posted started a long time ago. Our attitudes have changed slightly, I do have to say the 7075rc dbxl chassis is the very best. Some of these comments are cringe worthy but in the early days we were met with a lot of resistance and grew kinda defensive.

Default Race winner

This 7075rc equiped dbxl just won the big dirty race in Canada. Beating all the new Losi buggies , conversions everything. So if you want to turn that dbxl into a race potential winner look no further. This chassis will radically improve your dbxl more than any other single upgrade(other than the engine) on the market hands down.
