I've been searching all over and can't seem to find anyone running an MIP clutch on the Vekta yet.
I just want to make sure it will work with a G320/G340 before I order one. |

Why wouldn't it work in a Vekta? I've been running an MIP clutch in each of my G320 motors with no issue. Are you concerned with depth of clutch within the bell?

Yes, only concerned with it rubbing on the face of the bell, but I'm guessing it will be ok.
I've already purchased and assembled a new MIP clutch for the Vekta since making the original post. Now I'm just waiting for the kit to be released. It is currently due next month. |

Just in case anyone wants to know, it fits just fine.
I installed one on my Vekta. |

So I tried the MIP clutch in my Vekta on my track and didn't like it. It bogged a lot. I'm sure it's the fact that the Vekta is 45 pounds RTR and doesn't have a center diff. I'm going to experiment with some different 2-shoe setups before I spend the money on a Turtle Snapper.
Just for the record, I do run the MIP clutch in both of my 5IVE-T's and one of my 5IVE-B's and REALLY like them on those vehicles, but they're eight or nine pounds lighter and obviously have center differentials. The MIP clutch is where it's at if you're racing a 5IVE! |

Hay Art try the Tourex 4 shoe my 3 shoe works well but it's not imported here and I went to the MIP in my buggy
But the Tourex has a tone of springs for it and 1100 rpm is not maxed out so it should pull out with out bogging |

I wonder if this is why I thought the MIP clutch was slipping...
Three of my wheels look like this. ![]() By the way, these are proline split six wheels. The Vekta wheels have a metal insert so this won't happen if your wheel nuts come loose. It's my fault though. I'm notorious for forgetting to tighten my wheel nuts. ![]() |

So I've tried several clutch setups and never really saw a HUGE difference between them. It still doesn't have the bottom end I'm accustomed to on a 5IVE-T or 5IVE-B, but I'm sure it's just due to being so much heavier.
I tried the following clutch setups: MIP 2 shoes trailing w/ 8k spring 2 shoes leading w/ 8k spring 2 shoes trailing w/ 9.5k spring 2 shoes leading w/ 9.5k spring I was running a Bartolone 34cc piston port engine with the Bartolone Vekta pipe. It just doesn't have enough power to make it snap off the line like my race vehicles do. It's much heavier and geared higher than my Losi's with 18/58. I even tried running my lightweight glue style 5IVE-B tires/wheels. Today I ordered a brand new OBR 34cc reed engine. We'll see if it makes a difference. I plan to put the MIP clutch back on when the reed gets here and try it again. If the 34 reed doesn't do it, I'm going to try a different pipe. The Victory and Booster look VERY similar in size and shape, so I'll pick one of those. If I'm still not happy, a Finlay RC40 will be the next step. |

The OBR 34 full mod reed did the trick. I put the MIP clutch back in as well, and it feels really good. This engine is pretty impressive. The only problem is now I want a couple more of these engines for other vehicles!
